The Train.
------------
a long, tiresome one, the trip.
train; sometimes fearless,
sometimes dragging like a wounded animal.
my country outside the window was beautiful,
a slow calm Chilka lake,
a fierce Ganga,
but, sometimes, the scorching heat.
no shutter could save.
On both trips,
some sexually frustrated Indian Army men were common.
were these men already like that
or army-life made them so...
i dont understand.
anyways.
both times, they were fascinated about my breasts
and tried to touch them when i was sleeping.
they thought they were cats drinking milk in the night
and hoped no one will catch them...
the way they were sulking..
Guahati
---------
And there was Indian Army around
like filth.
vehicles, people, stares..
seemed like a war.
May be there is.
but then, but then.
i was around on a cycle almost alone at 9'o'clock in the night
there wasn't any MAN trying to tell me
its not safe.
there were not boys following me.
somehow, safer than my own GOD'S OWN COUNTRY.
there were women out in the nights,
women sitting at the shops alone,
women walking around.
and then she smiled without a tinge of doubt
when i was clicking a photograph.
i even wondered why and how.
in such a "terrorist" state.
a night in the rain,
a sight of thousand fireflies together..
someone i was in love with; for a day.
and yet.

Can only pray, time puts you in the right perspective....
sobi, did not understand your comment.. are you trying to say it's all with your perspective? we are so used to seeing things in a certain perspective that we are stuck to it. yes that is a nice way to feel good.. or at least feel "thats how things are". yet i hope more and more men and women get out of the "right perspectives", and feel this is not how things should be.
man/women is a rational animal. The animal part was always there and that will always be there. Sometimes the combination of rationality and animal instincts creates a lot of interesting behavior. Most of which is unclear when approached from a rational point of view. When we see this from an animal point of view, it all makes sense. Or rather we are just like that. Just like this.. just like what ever you say and what ever you blog. Its all absolutely right. For example to touch your breasts would be a natural act of sexuality for the opposite sex. To do it outright would be not a rational thing to do. To wait for the night fall and then try that would be a rational and animal act. because then there is a chance that the act of touching your breast is unseen and/or gets your acceptance, again rational.
Apart from all that, what ever you write seems to be interesting read. makes one remind himself/herself of the animal there is. But humans have build laws to counter his animal instincts and hold other humans responsible for animal behavior that is not allowed as per law. what an interesting species.
Hmmm ..... I agree.
And the difference between safe God's Own Country and "dirty" Kolkata itself is evident... There is now eyebrow raising at a woman who goes out for whereever she chooses to at night here .... And neither is it considered immoral if two people of opposite sex are seen together at night and nobody will bug them generally ....
